Gisborne South Swimming Centre
Gisborne South Swimming Centre was founded by Geoff & Lorainne Smalley in 1986 who have been teaching children and adults to swim since. The centre provides a family friendly environment, offering programs for children from 18months through to adults - ALL AGES at
ALL LEVELS, including special needs. Our Austswim qualified staff have been especially selected for their skills, and importantly, their passion and dedication to teaching.
As a fully indoor facility, the centre offers 2 salt water pools heated to 30-32°C each specifically designed for teaching infants through to squad training. It also includes male & female change rooms with showers, a seated viewing area for family and friends, disabled access and facilities and ample parking.
Our programs include individual and group coaching from water familiarisation and swimming strokes, through to squad training, Life Saving Bronze Rescue Awards and CPR. Class sizes are small to maximise the effectiveness of the learning experience. Most infant to pre-school classes offer
two instructors. All of our programs ensure swimmers have fun!
Our centre is the home pool for the Gisborne South SHARKS Swimming club which provides the opportunity to compete from district to national swim meets.
Importantly, we monitor the progress of all swimmers to ensure they are learning at a pace that works for them. This enables swimmers to progress to the next suitable level based on their ability, rather than their age.
Our mission: To build confident, competent and efficient swimmers who have survival skills for LIFE.
