Aqua Play ( hr)
Aqua Play is a semi-structured session guided by a qualified staff member. These sessions are designed for infants from 6 months to 18 months of age. They provide both parent and child with a fun, social and positive water experience through play, songs and toys. Aqua Play promotes confidence through the exploration of the aquatic environment which prepares infants for formal lessons.
Infant Aquatics ( hr)
These classes require one parent/guardian to be in the pool with their child from 18 months of age. These sessions introduce children to the water and include activities designed to build water confidence, exploration and independence. Fun and varied activities are conducted through games, songs, teaching aids and much more.

Toddler Aquatics ( hr)
These lessons are for children without the requirement of a parent/guardian. At this stage of a child's water familiarisation, the aim is to develop buoyancy skills and an awareness of their body in water as well as water safety skills. The introduction of swimming strokes is included at this level through fun and varied activities using effective teaching methods.

Pre-school Aquatics ( hr)
Our centre offers lessons for pre-school children at all skill levels. Once your child has shown confidence in the water we will begin to progress them through our four key learning stages. These include a focus on water safety and developing swimming strokes with the aim to swim a short distance without instructor aide.
School aged students - 'Swim and Survive' program ( hr)
School aged children from primary to senior levels are offered the Royal Life Saving Society 'Swim and Survive' program. This is a national swimming & water safety program offered at all levels involving the teaching of swimming strokes, technique, confidence, survival & more. Please feel free to ask us for a copy of the 'Swim and Survive Brochure'.
Special needs
With experienced & caring staff, we offer single or group sessions with one or two instructors for intellectually and/or physically challenged students. Regardless of age or ability, we tailor our programs to stimulate confidence & safety in the water. Our main aim is to ensure all students enjoy and benefit from working in a water environment, helping them to reach their optimum potential.

Adult lessons ( - 1 hr)
Adult sessions are offered as a one-on-one or group lesson working through our 5 key learning stages introducing and/or refining swimming strokes depending on experience in the water. We offer adult lessons from 18 years through to senior citizens at beginner to advanced levels.
Pre-squad (additional hr to a swimming lesson)
Pre-squad is an entry level to joining a squad team. This allows swimmers to work on their swimming technique and endurance. It also introduces swimming language, race clocks, and mini-squad training. Pre-squad and Squad training is programmed by Geoff Smalley, a qualified coach and member of ASCTA (Australian swimming Coaches & Teachers Association).
Squad level training: 1-2 hr sessions (multiple sessions)
Squad training is available to advanced swimmers from who can swim a distance of at least 25 metres. Sessions are programmed by Geoff Smalley and conducted in our 25m saltwater heated indoor pool. Squad training is ideal for competitive swimming, extending fitness for other sports and improving motivation and swimming skills.

Sessions focus heavily on refining strokes using training drills, developing competitive skills and techniques, as well as advanced water safety and survival skills. We recommend at least 2 training sessions a week which are conducted early morning or early evening (please see timetable and enrolment form). Squad training not only significantly improves self development including self-achievement and confidence building FOR LIFE, but swimmers share the experience in a fun and social environment. Please note: swimmers are required to be a member of a swimming club to compete in swim meets. Refer to South Gisborne SHARKS Swimming Club for further information.
